On Saturday, the 2021 graduate Bustler claimed his maiden G1 win in a stunning victory over Alsephina in Western Australia’s most prestigious race, the Railway Stakes.
The gelding owned and sold by Ruby Racing and Breeding to Ridgeport Holdings for $130,000 is by Playing God out of mare Cosmah Domination. Steven Parnham made use of the inside draw before quickly finding space and presenting Bustler on the turn to run away by over a length on the line.
It was the gelding’s first G1 win and first for Ruby Racing as vendors, as well as Ridgeport Holdings’ first taste of the ultimate success. He himself was a pinhook by Ruby Racing from the full Mungrup Dispersal in 2020 where he was the lone weanling purchased for the team.
That wasn’t the end of the success for pinhooks on the day. Onemoretoomany had earlier backed up his win two weeks prior with a dominant victory in the Silver Slipper Stakes — again trained by Neville Parnham and remaining undefeated.
The last and certainly not least of the Ruby treble was 4YO gelding Starry Heights — a graduate alongside Bustler in 2021 — completing a picket fence totalling 5 wins on the march.
