Real horses Real country

Ruby Racing and Breeding is a family-run thoroughbred farm in Geraldton, founded in 2020 by siblings Dan and Jaime O'Bree. The operation sits on Yanget Farm — a 2,000-acre property built around how horses should be raised, not the other way around.

Our paddocks are large and undulating, with balanced natural pasture, a barn built for medical emergencies and intensive care, and a vet partner on call year-round. Jaime, based on farm, is dedicated to ensuring every horse receives around-the-clock care, 24/7.

We offer a focused set of services, but not limited to — agistment and spelling, mare and foal, foaling, halter breaking, yearling preparation, and rehabilitation. We are passionate about all types of equine athletes. Limited positions, by design.

— Our philosophy
We pride ourselves on our horses being treated as athletes from the day they are born, giving them a head start in their careers on the track.

— The property

Yanget Farm.
A 2,000-acre property built for the horse.

About 20 km east of central Geraldton, Yanget Farm carries more than a century of history. Originally part of the Glengarry Estate and purchased by the O'Bree family in 2008, the property gives horses warm winters, strong feed, and a rare mix of undulating country and firm rocky ground. The horse precinct is purpose-built, with a barn designed for medical capabilities, foaling boxes, ICU stables and a vet partner on call year-round. Full history and estate detail at yanget.com.au.

— Why Yanget

Three reasons we raise horses here.

01

Warm winters

Without the cold, dark winters seen further south, horses don't divert energy into hair and fat reserves. Winter isn't a stalling period of growth — it becomes a window to grow, and recovery is much faster than south of WA.

02

Hills & terrain

Undulating paddocks shed water naturally — no stagnant ground, no foot trouble. The walks to feed and water build unmatched physiological changes no other environment can create or compare to.

03

Mentality

We are particular about how we manage horses on farm, and mentality is a large concept missed by most agistment farms. With larger paddocks, carefully selected paddock mates, and calm older nannies for the youngsters — horses depart easier to handle and settled in themselves, confident in every part of the routine, because that has been their life from the start.

— Vet & foaling

A barn built for medical capabilities, on site.

We offer 24/7 on-farm care. With a vet on call, we manage most non-surgical conditions in our own ICU and vet facility — colics, lacerations, hourly-check stays. CCTV, specialised boxes, any-time medication, and the flexibility to change setups on farm as a case develops.

Foaling is the highest-risk window of a mare's career, and abnormalities aren't rare — every foaling at Yanget is attended on site by an experienced team, around the clock, with vet backup minutes away.

— Beginnings

A family operation,
on the farm every day.

From multiple generations of a horse-racing family, Daniel and Jaime founded Ruby Racing and Breeding in 2020. Dan elevates the quality of our bloodstock through breeding on paper and every detail within our racing operations — from statistics to form, sale strategy to graduate placement.

Jaime understands that horses require 24/7 care. With a background in reproduction, massage therapy, and a deep focus on the health, mobility, and long-term performance of every horse on the property — her travels to Belgium, Dubai, Italy, Hunter Valley and England have extended her capabilities within all aspects of horse health.

— On the track

The same farm has produced a Group 1 winner and a stallion at stud.

The setup speaks for itself, but the record is on the graduates page — Bustler (G1 Railway Stakes), Tiger of Malay (now standing at Newgate), Earthstorm, Starry Heights (Star Turn × Sentfromthestars), and a continuing run of black-type performers.

— Plan a visit

Walk the farm. Place a horse.

Yanget welcomes visits by appointment. For agistment, foaling, mare and foal, or yearling preparation — speak directly with Dan or Jaime.
